The Governance, Knowledge and Communications Leader will support the GHH Digital Accelerator COE by providing visibility, alignment and coordination of all activities and priorities across all the functions within the GHH Digital Accelerator COE and key stakeholders across GHH.

  • Ensures alignment of specific DX initiatives to strategy and identifies areas of potential investment duplication

  • Engages with senior leaders to define appropriate leading and lagging indicators of the business impact of the GHH DX strategy; performs data-driven assessment of the impact of digital solutions and platforms; sets objectives and monitors overall performance for the Digital Accelerator; recommends corrective actions to ensure business value is achieved

  • Scans and assesses external horizon across industries for digital trends and competitive moves; takes an active external role in the digital ecosystem to inform updates/pivots to the DX strategy

  • Benchmarks where Merck is relative to peer organizations with digital though leadership and execution

  • Leads and support all Digital Governance forums (DX Steering Group, DX Internal Ad Board, DX Community, DX External Ad Board)

  • Coordinates with the franchises to embed digital into integrated business strategies bringing to bear the skills and expertise of the DX Delivery Leader and DX Solutions Leader and their teams

  • Partners with DX Delivery Leader and DX Solutions Leader and on DX governance framework in close collaboration with Legal, Compliance, IT, Regulatory, CORE, Value / Affordability, Markets and Therapeutic Areas

  • Together with the COE Solutions Lead builds and maintains an extensive network of Digital Health experts (start-ups, VCs, technology companies) and keeps current with evolutions in the digital landscape to evolve the Digital Strategy and identify potential opportunities/implications for Merck

  • Works to increase the Digital IQ of GHH in partnership with Learning & Development through a comprehensive, longitudinal training curriculum which will be developed and executed in partnership with Learning & Development

  • Assesses and advises on optimizing processes, standards, governance and organization structure

  • Works closely with the DX SRO Lead to ensure all information, resources and updates are being made available in a timely manner


  • Expert strategy and process development skills

  • Strong collaborator with well-developed facilitation skills

  • Digital experience with extensive external network

  • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to vision as well as execute

  • Prior experience working on a large transformational change initiative

  • Extensive exposure to product commercialization and infrastructure and experience in how to take marketing activities digital

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally across all business units

  • Excellent presentation, analytical and communication skills, both written and oral, are required to synthesize key issues, and communicate/persuade constituencies towards specific actions and initiatives

  • Ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and external relationships; proven leadership skills and experience in managing teams

  • Deep understanding of how to use digital channels, techniques, and operating models

  • Ability to provide thought leadership and perspective on adoption

  • Well organized, highly motivated, process driven and results oriented with the ability to balance priorities and assume responsibility in a multi-tasking environment


  • Required: Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent from an accredited university

  • Preferred: Health Economics, Medicine, and/or Business

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of (10) years of project management experience working on complex transformational initiatives

  • Consulting and/or business experience in Digital Marketing concepts and application

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
