The Protein Science organization is responsible for the delivery of quality therapeutics into our organization’s pipeline. As a complex organization with many stakeholders and interdependencies, the Protein Science organization has a need for an experienced Project Manager to organize activities in the group at a portfolio level. This will ensure that we meet aggressive timelines for our programs, as well as maintaining a healthy portfolio of active programs. The successful candidate will have superior project management skills, and ideally an in depth knowledge of the discovery and preclinical development of Protein therapeutics with success in moving programs into clinical studies.

The position will be based in Palo Alto, CA until second quarter of 2019, then the position will be based in South San Francisco.

Responsibilities include:

  • Track, using standard project management tools, our organization's pipeline of Protein Therapeutics at the portfolio level

  • Working with Program-facing Project Management groups to project portfolio milestones

  • Interacting with research division's IT to enable the implementation and maintenance of IT systems that milestones in therapeutics discovery to be tracked for each program in the portfolio

  • Act as a ‘campaign manager’ for discovery facing programs, helping to guide functional groups within Protein Sciences on prioritization based on input from the department’s senior management

  • Administrative organization of Protein Sciences cross-site initiatives, including a cross-functional Protein Network across our research division

  • Provide an interface between the Protein Science Department and our organization’s BD&L group to assign and track Protein Sciences department members to evaluations of biologics-based licensing opportunities

Required Experience and Skills:

  • PhD with 5 yrs experience, Masters with at least 10 yrs experience or Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience

  • Must have experience in Project Management in a setting of Protein Science/Biologics-related activities

  • Proven ability to apply Project Management skills across a portfolio of programs and projects

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Formal training in Program Management

  • Experience in progressing a discovery program to initial regulatory findings

  • Experience with Program Management organization and tracking software, including Microsoft Project, Excel and Visio
