Our organization's Animal Health, Millsboro, DE is a BioTechnology Center of Excellence that manufactures, fills, packages and distributes vaccines for animals. A Production Support Lead Tech is responsible for preparation of domestic and international shipments as well as fulfilling orders to internal customers. Also responsible for overflow tasks within the manufacturing area, which requires primary and secondary gowning. A Production Support Lead Tech must follow Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to all safety and company policies, at a highly regulated facility.

This position is for Second Shift, which are current hours of 2:30pm to 11:00pm. Must be able to work flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the manufacturing process. This includes overtime, holidays and weekends. Days and hours are subject to change based on the needs of the business.

A Lead Tech will perform duties assigned by department supervision, including but not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrated, at all times, safe work habits and maintains a safe work environment. Understands and complies with all safety and company policies and procedures.

  • Technicians may be responsible for accumulation, labeling and management of hazardous wastes, as appropriate to their area.

  • Pull products from storage areas to complete a customer order.

  • Prepare materials for shipping including handling of dry ice and/or liquid nitrogen.

  • Receive and issue materials from inventory.

  • Perform cycle counting.

  • Organization & storage of direct materials.

  • Operation of company vehicle, forklift and/or pallet jack.

  • Prepare, clean and sterilize glassware and equipment for use.

  • Assist with equipment set-up and operation.

  • Assist with unloading of freeze dried products.

  • Proficient in computer use, i.e. Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Maintain data in SAP

  • Assist with the direction of others by ensuring written procedures are being followed, ensure safety of team members, ensure facility and equipment are properly maintained.

  • Assist in scheduling of work and ensure work is completed, assume supervision when manager is absent.

  • Attend training classes, workshops, meetings, etc. as required to improve job skills and product- related procedures.

  • Train, mentor and assist in supervision of other team members within group

  • Assist in reviewing and developing Standard Operating Procedures

  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High School diploma/GED with minimum 6 years of relevant work experience OR an Associate’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Must have the ability to read, write and understand technical information and to effectively communicate information to colleagues at various levels

  • Must have a strong attention to detail

  • Must have more advanced computer proficiency, solid understanding of Microsoft applications.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with SAP
