Merck seeks to recruit a Director of Analytics & Insights for Global Human Health IT (GHH IT). This leader will serve as the primary point of accountability to enable IT to deliver solutions to differentiate through digital, data analytics, and insights and have input into the technical architecture to meet the strategic and operational goals of the business.

This leader will work with the Global Human Health (GHH) organization to ensure a top-down approach to analytics and insights such that support engagement with patients, physicians and payers in new ways using a combination of in-person and digital channels based on deep insights from real-time integrated data, and automation of end-to-end core business processes.

She/he will be responsible for articulating the value of prioritized analytics initiatives and then manage the investments in IT with a focus on driving tangible and measurable value realization in partnership with business customers. She/he will be responsible for identifying opportunities to extend and optimize analytics investments and related assets to support GHH imperatives.

This leader will liase with GHH and GHH IT to drive a prioritized approach to analytics initiatives that both supports business priorities and imperatives while driving advancement of the organization’s analytical maturity from hindsight to foresight.

To be effective in this role, he/she must partner with global leadership as well as regional and functional leaders to understand business drivers and questions, and manage implementation of these leveraging the OneIT organization and ensuring executional excellence. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring, through collaboration and partnership with GHH IT leadership, the alignment and integration of the Commercial & Customer analytics portfolio with the global and regional IT portfolios.

This leader will have a highly collaborative role and will be responsible for partnering with the global IT analytics network to ensure that the commercial analytics portfolio is aligned and prioritized within the Global IT Analytics portfolio. He/she will be responsible for up-skilling the organization in analytics and information management capabilities.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Masters Degree or better in Mathematics, Decision Sciences, Computer Sciences or equivalent with 8 years of relevant experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in the information management domain internationally within Life Sciences, or consumer products and retail with a focus on the commercial and/or sales & marketing areas

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of data & information architecture, data management and reporting and analytics including information sciences modeling and development of business intelligence solutions

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills including leadership in brainstorming, identifying of core issues, structuring problems, effectively finding and using data and independently managing complex analysis

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment and leading cross-functional project teams
